Skimming the pool water takes out all big debris, such as leaves and sticks.  any standard handheld skimmer will do the job!

brushing the pool walls is only done if the pool walls start growing algae on them.  you need to brush the algae off the wall to make your shock and algaecide more effective in killing and preventing the algae from growing back.  any pool supply store will have brushes for pools that attach to your skimmer pole!

Vacuuming is usually the hardest part, people always have questions on vacuuming their pool and how to hook it up.  i will list the directions here

last thing is lubricating.  any time you remove anything in your pool that has a rubber o-ring on it. you should lubricate it with a silicone based lubricant, this will make the O-ring last longer and stop any leaks from happening to your pool.  DO NOT USE petrolium based lubricants! they can dry out the O-ring and lead to damage!
